House Ownership

Today my husband and I bought our first house! We've been married for a little over a year and have been doing our best to save our money, but it hasn't been easy since my husband lost his job earlier in the year and has just recently gotten another one that doesn't pay as well but he's at least getting decent hours, unlike me.
I have a job right now, but it's part-time and I'm not getting as many hours as I thought I would be. We're doing alright now, but it will be tight for a while so I'm looking for a second job.
But back to the buying the house part. After we got the keys to the house we went looking for furniture and found a nice dining room table and chairs set at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for $100. I also found a nice computer desk at Salvation Army. We took the furniture to the house and since there's actually furniture in the house it feels more like ours. We are going to start packing soon and hope to have most of our stuff moved in by the end of next week.

NaNoWriMo

Alright, so it's taken me a bit longer to post this than I thought.
NaNoWriMo had me officially beat. This was my first year participating and I thought I would be able to write as I went along since I forgot about NaNo until about a week before it started. Writing this way worked for a while, but I learned that I'm more of a planner when it comes to my stories. I especially didn't succeed because I was busier in November than I originally thought I would be. I tried my best to write everyday, but I ended up thinking about my story more often than writing. I only ended up with around 16,000 words, but I plan on continuing with this story but at my own pace. I plan to participate next year but I will plan the story more throughout the year and hope that I won't be as busy so I can write everyday and meet the word goal.

NaNoWriMo-Days 6 to 27

Have been trying to catch up on word count. I have not been successful so far and won't be successful within the next couple of days, I am too far behind to even think about winning NaNo this year. I'll post more on Wednesday or Thursday.

NaNoWriMo-Day 5

Continued writing my fanfiction. Writing today went better than the other days, but I could still write more each day.

NaNoWriMo-Day 4

Tried to get caught up again today, but was not successful. I was at church longer than I expected and had an online RPG to play tonight. So all in all it was more of a non writing day, although I did get some writing in. Here’s to a more successful tomorrow.

NaNoWriMo-Day 3

Tried to get caught up today, but it didn’t work. Tomorrow I just need to tell myself that I can’t go on the internet unless I need some reference for my story. I won’t be able to write for a few hours tomorrow, but when I do, I need to just focus on my story. Tomorrow will be a no distraction day.

NaNoWriMo-Day 2

Today I’m starting a new story. I liked the one I started yesterday, but I’d like to plan it a little more. The new story I’m starting is a fanfiction that I’ve been working on for years but could never get it passed a certain point. Now I’m trying again, and hopefully I can keep the flow going.

NaNoWriMo-Day 1

This is my first year participating in NaNoWriMo. I didn’t make the word count mark for the day, but I’m sure that as I get back into writing I’ll be able to write enough each day in order to make the 50,000 word count by the end of the month.
(Should have been posted yesterday.)

Starkid Potter

I just finished watching "A Very Potter Sequel" for the second time. It's the sequel to "A Very Potter Musical." I would recommend watching both of them if you're a Harry Potter fan. Both musicals were made by students at the University of Michigan, and are available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/StarKidPotter.
At first I didn't like the sequel one as much, but after watching it a second time I realize that I do like it as much as the original but for a different reason. I believe that "A Very Potter Musical" has more comedy. "A Very Potter Sequel " is funny in it's own right, but it has more of an actual story to it.

June 18

Two years ago today I got engaged! It was also our 2 and a half year dating anniversary. My fiance and I went to Weber's in Ann Arbor and had a wonderful meal. After dessert we talked for a little bit, and he said how much he enjoyed living with me that summer and waking up next to me. No, he didn't get down on one knee to propose, he just stayed in the chair and pulled out the ring. I just smiled at him because I knew what he was asking, and he proceeded to put the ring on my finger. 1 year, 1 month, and 21 days later we were married. I will post more about our wedding on the actual day.

Hunting for the Elusive Job

I had a job over the holiday season, but that ended in January. Over the past couple of months I have filled out applications and turned them in, hearing nothing back and getting the same response everywhere I called: "We're still looking over applications." I took a couple weeks break, and am now back on the job hunt. I have 11 applications to fill out for the Somerset mall about 30 minutes from my house. This will be a long and tedious process for me, but I will have them done by Monday so I can turn them in on Tuesday.
While I am filling out these applications, I am also open to jobs anywhere. I would love to have work building sets for theatre productions. I worked in the scene shop of my college theatre for a year and really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed being assistant stage manager and seeing the play come together from beginning to end, but I don't think there are any places where I can get paid to be an assistant stage manager.
If anyone who is reading this has any ideas or knows of places that are hiring, please let me know in the comments.

Cookies

So instead of taking time to daydream yesterday, I ended up making chocolate chip cookies for a marriage retreat that my husband and I are going to in a couple of hours. I did relax after I was done with the cookies, but I listened to music and read instead of daydreaming. Looks like I'll have to wait until next week to focus on story ideas.

Dream Finder

I have all these little story ideas floating around in my head, but when I try to focus on them they disappear. I'd really like to start writing stories again, but it's a little frustrating to have all these story seeds in my head and not be able to focus on any of them. My inspiration usual comes from nature, but right now I seem to be finding inspiration in other things. Some of these ideas have come from a picture, part of a TV show, or even something someone says. I think what I need to do in order to be able to flesh out these ideas is to get in my creative zone again. The problem is that I'm not sure how to do that. I think I'll try listening to music with headphones on while sitting someplace where I can daydream and won't be interrupted or distracted. I think tomorrow may be the day.
