This year I'm hoping to have a post every day. A few days ago I was thinking about how people take a picture or video of themselves every day to create a time lapse. I've decided that since I don't journal, it would be nice to have a little reminder of what I've done each day because you never know when you'll want to remember what happened. This year I will be posting a picture every day of something I've seen at some point during the day to help me remember what I did that day. Unfortunately there won't be 365 pictures this year because I just started this two days ago, but I hope to continue this into next year.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-77839656783158222722011-10-14T20:21:00.002-04:002011-10-14T20:26:07.775-04:00LANHusband's off to a LAN party that I wasn't really invited to. I feel like I was more of an afterthought because I didn't get a direct invite. I was only invited by my husband because he was invited to the actual event on Facebook. Not sure if I actually want to go to this thing. Will anybody miss me? No one that's going to be there has talked to me in almost a year. True, I haven't tried to talk to them either, but I'm not sure of the status of our relationship. Are we friends or just people that know each other? I more apt to reach out to people I know are my friends than people I've barely talked to and don't seem interested in getting to know me. So, what do I do now?Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-22195604393656465852011-10-01T23:48:00.003-04:002011-10-02T00:20:40.467-04:00StuffI've been neglecting my blog and my monthly goals. At least for this month and next that will change. Next month is NaNoWriMo and I plan on actually winning this year. So this month is all about preparation. Starting today I will take time, hopefully a couple hours, to write and get ideas that I can call on and will actually be inspired by next month to write a good story.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-39050780546177908802011-09-11T18:11:00.001-04:002011-10-11T23:52:17.939-04:00In Memory of the Lives Lost 10 Years AgoSeptember 11, 2001

Pitch black
Nowhere to go
Nothing to do but sit, wait, and pray
Air is limited
I see a point of light
Hear voices
People are coming to the rescue
Air is running out
Wish they'd hurry up
Almost suffocating
A big ray of sun breaks through the darkness
Air pours in
They're here
They've found me
I crawl out through an opening in the rubble
The sun is bright
People are clapping
I find my family
We're happy to be together again
But all around there's weeping and mourning
So many people gone
So much suffering
They'll never be forgotten

Dedicated to all the families who lost loved ones in the World Trade Center attack. I only know of two other people who read this, my husband and his brother. This book is about a young man who has magic, but not the typical type. This type of magic deals with computers and technology, hacking in to protected systems, and entering in to the systems to look around in spiritual form. The Greek gods are also a major part of this book, especially since the main character is descended from a Fate.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-32888635744258465692011-04-07T10:51:00.001-04:002011-04-07T10:53:02.762-04:0030 Days of Books-Day 6A book that makes you sad

This was an easy choice for me. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a book that makes me sad for two reasons. Two characters especially close to Harry(the two I actually cried for)die, and this book marks the end of an era. Yes, we still had the movies to look forward to, but this book meant that our time reading about Harry's life was done. I hope JK Rowling writes more, but I don't think it will be quite the same without Harry as a character.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-34019514777972163152011-04-05T21:47:00.001-04:002011-04-05T21:48:59.455-04:0030 Days of Books-Day 5A book that makes you happy

I read The Monument by Gary Paulsen in elementary school and instantly fell in love with it. I didn't actually buy a copy until years later when I started remembering details from it. I love this book because it's about art and seeing the world differently. Somewhere I ended up losing my first copy and had to buy another. Now I think I might have lost my second copy, so I'm going to have to buy another one, but that's okay because this book is worth it. Check it out at http://www.amazon.com/Monument-Gary-Paulsen/dp/0440407826/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_a.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-84519960352966154612011-04-04T19:21:00.002-04:002011-04-04T21:56:32.666-04:0030 Days of Books-Day 4Favorite book from your favorite series

My favorite book from the Harry Potter series is Order of the Phoenix. This was my favorite because it's the longest. I've always enjoyed reading long books the best because they take more time to get through. I read short books as well, but I get through them so fast that I think I feel that I don't get much out of them, so that's why I like longer books.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-91826936881642665042011-04-04T14:40:00.004-04:002011-04-04T21:54:22.940-04:0030 Days of Books-Day 3Your favorite series

I'm currently reading three different series that I really enjoy, but I'm going to have to say that my favorite series is Harry Potter. I was introduced to this series in seventh grade when one of my teachers read to us from Sorcerer's Stone. The story resonated with me because I often wanted something special to happen to me so I could escape from my life, if not all the time, then at least for a little bit.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-86196965260439668752011-04-02T22:51:00.002-04:002011-04-02T23:05:36.049-04:0030 Days of Books-Day 2A book that you've read more than 3 times

I've read two or three books more than three times, but the one that I've read the most is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling. This book I've read about seven times. The second time I read it was because I wanted to read the series in succession. I read 1 and 2, then 1 through 3, and so on, but I have yet to read straight through the series. I also read Philosopher's Stone in college and noted the differences between the UK and US versions. Then when the 10th anniversary edition came out I got that and read it as well. I look forward to reading it again when the time comes for me to read the whole series, but that won't be for a while because I have a lot of other books on my to read list.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-31175587426738371252011-04-01T20:39:00.003-04:002011-04-01T23:24:24.912-04:0030 Days of Books-Day 1The Best Book I Read Last Year

Well, I have to think back to last year and sift through all of the books I read. I read a lot of books last year, but I think the one I enjoyed the most was Steamed: A Steampunk Romance by Katie MacAlister. I've been into romance books for a while, but this was the first one I read about steampunk. I enjoyed the world that was created and look forward to finding another steampunk novel that catches my interest like this one.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-59100767491442231492011-04-01T20:01:00.003-04:002011-04-01T20:32:05.721-04:00Goal 3Okay, so I failed at my March goal. I was supposed to read five books, but I only read three. I got distracted by the new Pokemon games(I chose Black and my husband chose White). I blame myself, but I blame my husband more because he's the one who really wanted to get the games. :) I agreed because they sounded fun, but I thought I would be able to ignore my game. It turns out I was wrong. I shouldn't have even started playing because once I did I got into the game and didn't want to stop. I read two books before we got the games, but the third was a struggle. I did have some days where I didn't want to play Pokemon, but there were other days when I would get distracted. Of course I did get distracted by other things such as Facebook and Smallville(I'm watching every episode so I can fill in any details I missed from earlier seasons when I didn't catch an episode), but I mostly blame Pokemon because I feel that I could have accomplished my goal if I had not started playing that game. I should have learned by now that I get too distracted by something new that other things fall by the wayside, but I guess it hasn't stuck yet.
April is going to be puzzle month. I already started the puzzle I'm going to be working on a few years ago, but I figure now is the best time to work on it. And since I'm going to be working on a puzzle I think I'll be able to keep on playing Pokemon at the same time, so April might be more of a game month than just a puzzle month.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-2487310507104634392011-03-01T20:27:00.002-05:002011-03-01T20:40:34.510-05:00Goal 2It's the first day of March and February became a month of many goals. I thought my goal for February was going to be working on a story, but I ended up working on a few other goals as well. I started out working on a story, but then the urge to work on fleece creatures overtook my wanting to write a story. So as of now I have eight creatures drawn and have one or two more to plan: actually working on them will come at a later time when I have money I can use to buy fleece and cotton batting. I also cleaned up the house a little bit more before my parents came to visit.
Now on to March's goal...March is reading month. I will be trying to read five books, that are each between 300 and 330 pages, by the end of the month. Wish me luck. :PJanicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-57445270869694540002011-02-01T14:09:00.002-05:002011-02-01T14:21:38.195-05:00Goal 1It's the first day of February and my goal for January is complete. We didn't get all of the boxes and unpacked and everything put away, but we got enough done that I consider the goal for January accomplished. Now on to February's goal...Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-21013119280063244962011-01-20T22:04:00.008-05:002011-04-01T20:31:40.185-04:00New Years ResolutionsI don't normally make resolutions for the new year, but this year I decided I would. This year I have decided that I will do something new each month and that I must work on it every day of the month. For example, this month I am working on unpacking boxes and organizing the new house. Next month I might work on knitting a scarf, or learning HTML4. I won't decided what I want to work on until a few days before the new month starts. But I suppose I could list all my ideas in this post, then mark in a new post what I'm working on that month, but I will also edit this post to keep it current. This way I'll have just one spot I can refer to for what I want to get accomplished this year instead of trying to think about it at the end of every month.

List:
organize/unpack-January
work on a story-February(partially)
knit a scarf
learn HTML4
relearn the guitar
scrapbook
plan fleece animals/objects and make some-February(drawings almost done)
read 5 books-March(failed)
exercise
plan for NaNoWriMo
take part in and win NaNoWriMo
put together puzzles-AprilJanicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-1965959367673790332010-12-21T23:04:00.002-05:002010-12-21T23:28:03.372-05:00House OwnershipToday my husband and I bought our first house! We've been married for a little over a year and have been doing our best to save our money, but it hasn't been easy since my husband lost his job earlier in the year and has just recently gotten another one that doesn't pay as well but he's at least getting decent hours, unlike me.
I have a job right now, but it's part-time and I'm not getting as many hours as I thought I would be. We're doing alright now, but it will be tight for a while so I'm looking for a second job.
But back to the buying the house part. After we got the keys to the house we went looking for furniture and found a nice dining room table and chairs set at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for $100. I also found a nice computer desk at Salvation Army. We took the furniture to the house and since there's actually furniture in the house it feels more like ours. We are going to start packing soon and hope to have most of our stuff moved in by the end of next week.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-20273814560648137482010-12-21T22:26:00.002-05:002010-12-21T23:04:13.015-05:00NaNoWriMoAlright, so it's taken me a bit longer to post this than I thought.
NaNoWriMo had me officially beat. This was my first year participating and I thought I would be able to write as I went along since I forgot about NaNo until about a week before it started. Writing this way worked for a while, but I learned that I'm more of a planner when it comes to my stories. I especially didn't succeed because I was busier in November than I originally thought I would be. I tried my best to write everyday, but I ended up thinking about my story more often than writing. I only ended up with around 16,000 words, but I plan on continuing with this story but at my own pace. I plan to participate next year but I will plan the story more throughout the year and hope that I won't be as busy so I can write everyday and meet the word goal.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-11285062528282560722010-11-27T23:00:00.003-05:002010-11-27T23:03:26.341-05:00NaNoWriMo-Days 6 to 27Have been trying to catch up on word count. I have not been successful so far and won't be successful within the next couple of days, I am too far behind to even think about winning NaNo this year. I'll post more on Wednesday or Thursday.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-49993288884564961932010-11-05T23:42:00.001-04:002010-11-05T23:42:45.324-04:00NaNoWriMo-Day 5Continued writing my fanfiction. Writing today went better than the other days, but I could still write more each day.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-27102617594867019862010-11-04T22:04:00.000-04:002010-11-04T22:05:07.186-04:00NaNoWriMo-Day 4Tried to get caught up again today, but was not successful. I was at church longer than I expected and had an online RPG to play tonight. So all in all it was more of a non writing day, although I did get some writing in. Here’s to a more successful tomorrow.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-61416783640792594822010-11-04T00:59:00.000-04:002010-11-04T01:00:13.787-04:00NaNoWriMo-Day 3Tried to get caught up today, but it didn’t work. Tomorrow I just need to tell myself that I can’t go on the internet unless I need some reference for my story. I won’t be able to write for a few hours tomorrow, but when I do, I need to just focus on my story. Tomorrow will be a no distraction day.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-40721447168667614432010-11-02T21:07:00.000-04:002010-11-02T21:08:25.170-04:00NaNoWriMo-Day 2Today I’m starting a new story. I liked the one I started yesterday, but I’d like to plan it a little more. The new story I’m starting is a fanfiction that I’ve been working on for years but could never get it passed a certain point. Now I’m trying again, and hopefully I can keep the flow going.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-24916470262475517442010-11-02T21:06:00.000-04:002010-11-02T21:07:45.850-04:00NaNoWriMo-Day 1This is my first year participating in NaNoWriMo. I didn’t make the word count mark for the day, but I’m sure that as I get back into writing I’ll be able to write enough each day in order to make the 50,000 word count by the end of the month.
(Should have been posted yesterday.)Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1401978454143792788.post-55518058350080523462010-08-08T11:57:00.003-04:002010-08-08T12:36:11.391-04:00August 8Today is my one year anniversary! It's the sequel to "A Very Potter Musical." I would recommend watching both of them if you're a Harry Potter fan. Both musicals were made by students at the University of Michigan, and are available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/StarKidPotter.
At first I didn't like the sequel one as much, but after watching it a second time I realize that I do like it as much as the original but for a different reason. I believe that "A Very Potter Musical" has more comedy. "A Very Potter Sequel " is funny in it's own right, but it has more of an actual story to it.Janicehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14377780024479147576noreply@blogger.com0
